A Man dies for 7 minutes and receives an astonishing tour of the Afterlife

Near-Death Experience

Life & Beyond | John Davis

I was riding a moped or a scooter. I’ve forgotten where I was going, but I turned a corner to the right and right in front of me was a squirrel. I tried to avoid it. But as I swerved, the squirrel moved in the same direction I did. So I turned the other way, and crashed straight into a tree.

I landed in such a way that I tore the tendons in my hand, and I had to undergo surgery to have them reattached. When they gave me the anesthesia, I had some kind of terrible allergic reaction. My heart stopped, and I died.

According to the surgeons, I was dead for seven minutes. It took them seven minutes to bring me back.

And during those seven minutes, I went to the other side—the place we all go when we cross over—and I met my spirit guide, who was waiting for me there

All I can say is that it felt as though I was being given a tour of a part of the other side—a place where people go if they are interested in learning and development. It was like a vast university campus where all of this learning takes place. There were buildings everywhere, places of study, places of teaching. It was where you could go in order to learn.

The place I went to was enormous. It was very specific, because what I saw was not all that existed. It was only a very small part of the other side.

When I was there, there were what I can only describe as temples. They were incredibly beautiful and made of marble. They looked like Greek and Roman architecture, with magnificent white columns. They were absolutely breathtaking. One of the buildings I saw was an immense library.

Every time my guide took me somewhere, he would first show me the outside of the buildings before we went in.

So now I was standing in front of this one particular building, and I didn’t know what it was. It had enormous columns at the front and all these steps leading upward. We went inside, and it was a library—so vast that I could not see the end of it. It was truly immense.

There were all kinds of people there, and they were learning. They were reading, studying, speaking with one another. There was this atmosphere… everything revolved around learning and growth. Because here on Earth, in this life, we take nothing with us except what we have learned.

And so, on the other side, there is a tremendous emphasis on development, learning, and growth. My guide explained this to me as we stood in that great library.

When you entered, there were rooms on the left-hand side that you could walk into, similar to the study rooms in a modern library.

My guide led me into one of those rooms, and there I saw a woman.

I could see her just as clearly as I can see you. And I still remember every detail.

She was wearing a purple dress. She was standing with her back to us, and she had long black hair that reached all the way to her waist.

What was she doing in that room?

She was watching a video screen.

My near-death experience took place in 1987. Back then, we didn’t have flat-screen televisions. But the best way I can describe it today is that it was like a huge 50- or 60-inch flat screen mounted on the wall.

And the strange thing was that the woman was watching a battle that had taken place a few hundred years earlier between the American Plains tribes and the U.S. Cavalry. It was an actual battlefield scene.

I asked my guide, “How is it possible that she is watching this now? Back then there were no video recorders, no cameras.”

My guide told me that everything is recorded. Everything about our lives. Everything is preserved.

And what the woman was doing was learning about that particular period in Earth’s history because she was interested in it.

I do not know how she was able to play back that specific part of history, but anything you want to learn can be learned there. You can go into these rooms and watch it.

So if you wanted to witness the invasion of Normandy in France during the Second World War, you could simply walk in and watch it as if it were unfolding in real time, right in front of you. Anything you want to know about the history of Earth can be seen there.

I don’t know whether you have to speak to it in order to begin, or somehow activate the image, but you can watch everything there in real time.

Another aspect of learning there is that there are all kinds of things you can do in order to study.

One of the places my guide took me to was a castle, like something from medieval Europe.

It turns out that on the other side, you do not only learn by watching these “videos.” You can actually visit these places and see what they looked like.

So if you were interested in studying the medieval history of England, for example, there is a place on the other side of the veil where you can go. You do not simply read about it or watch it. You can learn by experiencing it yourself.

My guide told me that this was only one of many, many castles on the other side.

I don’t know why he took me to that particular place.

First, he showed me the outside. It was an enormous castle.

Then he invited me inside. The floor was covered in a beautiful red carpet, and the walls were very high, lined with life-sized paintings of kings, queens, princes, and everyone who had once lived in that castle.

You could see what they looked like and what they wore.

So if you wanted to spend time on the other side of the veil learning about medieval England, this is a place you could go.

In front of each painting there was a pedestal, and on every pedestal there were books.

I discovered that these books contained references and writings about the life of the person shown in the painting.

So if you saw King Henry VII, you could see who he was, what he wore, and you could read about his life.

Everything you do in a human lifetime is recorded.

So if you wanted to learn about King Henry VII, you could take the book and turn through the pages and read about his life.

How does God have the ability to record everything? Everything is recorded.

You did not only have access to Henry’s life, but also to the conversations he had. You could discover whether he truly cared about the people who served him. You could see what kind of king he really was.

Something that truly amazed me was the tremendous emphasis on learning, and the way it all worked.

I looked to my right, and a young woman came walking down a spiral staircase.

I can still see her clearly whenever I speak about it.

She had strawberry-blonde hair and wore a kind of red dress with a golden sash. She had sandals on.

To this day, I still think about her and the way she walked toward me and said:

“Is there anything I can help you with?”

I had no idea what was happening. I didn’t even know that I was dead.

I looked at her and simply said, “No, thank you. I’d just like to look around by myself.”

Later, there were so many things I wished I had asked her about my near-death experience. But at that moment, all I said was, “No, thank you.”

And when I think back on it now, I think: my goodness… why didn’t I ask her where I was and what all of this meant?

My guide explained to me that this was only one of the many things this woman did on the other side.

Here on Earth, we would probably call her a scholar.

She was someone who knew everything about a particular period in Earth’s history—in her case, the Middle Ages. That was her specialty.

So for people who wanted to learn more about that time, they could come into the castle, see the paintings, read the books about the people who had lived there, and they could also ask this young woman anything they wanted.

That was one of her roles there.

And those roles are not like jobs here on Earth.

Here, we need work in order to pay our bills, buy food, and take care of all the other things we have to pay for.

On the other side, money is not needed. There is no economy there like the one we have here.

You may have a “job,” like this young woman had in the castle, but you do it for no other reason than the love you have for that subject.

You do it because it is your deepest passion.

Everything there is about learning, developing, and growing.

When they gave me the anesthesia and, in the next instant, I died, I stood up and looked at the most beautiful building I had ever seen.

My first thought was that I had no idea the hospital was this enormous.

Later, my guide explained to me that we were in a place called the Orientation Center.

As I looked at it, I could see downward as far as the eye could see, and there seemed to be no end to the building.

On the right side were these tall, magnificent white marble columns that stretched all the way down and curved back to the left, all made of pristine white marble.

There were also these tunnels—these openings—that continued downward as far as you could see.

And directly in front of those tunnels were marble tables, and there were two people seated at each table.

I learned that these people were orientation counselors.

Their entire purpose was to help people.

Again, I do not know exactly how it works—I only saw that people would come through these tunnels after they had completed their life here on Earth.

They would pass through a tunnel, and you have probably heard this before: when people are in the tunnel, they see a white light at the end.

That light comes from the other side, guiding them there.

So the moment they step into that tunnel, they arrive at the Orientation Center.

There was a woman there. She stood up from her chair and walked toward one of the tunnels. She took the hand of a man who had just come through.

He was an older gentleman, probably around eighty or ninety years old, and he had his right hand pressed against his chest.

My guide told me that he had died of a heart attack.

So he came through the tunnel, and the woman—the counselor—stood up and took his hands in hers.

She led him to the table where she had been sitting, and the entire time she spoke with him, she held his hands.

My guide asked me to pay attention to what was about to happen.

Before my eyes, the man in his eighties or nineties transformed into a younger version of himself—a man of around thirty.

And I do not know why this is, but everyone on the other side appears to be around that age.

What happened then was that the woman from the Orientation Center told him that he had completed his earthly life and that he was now coming Home—Home to the Real World.

The thing I miss the most, even to this day, is the feeling of God that you experience on the other side.

You feel God there. You feel His love for you.

He absolutely cherishes us.

You are loved so deeply that it is almost impossible to imagine here on Earth.

It is perhaps similar to the way you love your children, but here on Earth we are almost incapable of feeling love that intensely.

I think that what people feel in their souls—and what they miss—is that immense feeling of Love from the other side.

I did not want to come back because the love there is so overwhelming.

You are so loved.

You are so safe.

There is no judgment there either.

There was not really a central place from which I felt the love of God. It was more that He was everywhere.

It was such a tangible feeling, and it felt so incredibly…

When I came back and woke up in the hospital room, it was only a few days later that I truly realized everything that had happened.

And I fell into a terrible depression because I did not want to be here.

I wanted to go back to where I had been.

I try to explain what Heaven is like, but it is as though I have never found the words that can truly describe it.

It was so incredible to meet Jesus.

Meeting Jesus feels like being reunited with your very best friend.

He was, of course, filled with love.

You simply knew that there was no judgment in him about the life you had lived.

He did not even seem capable of judging.

He understood you.

He understood us and what we go through on Earth.

He understood what it is to be human.

And at that moment, I was not thinking about asking him questions. I simply did not have time to think.

But he spoke to me and asked me if I would tell people that death does not exist.

Everything they showed me in this experience was not only meant for me.

This information was meant to be shared with anyone who is willing to hear it.

There was something different about him.

He was so different from everyone else I met there.

I could see that they had bodies, just as clearly as I can see yours, but it was different from us.

I was standing in a field when he came toward me.

And the only things I could really see clearly were his hands and his feet.

He was wearing a beautiful white robe with a golden sash and golden sandals that came up to his knees.

When I looked toward his face, I could not even truly see it.

It was as if flashes of light were coming from his face.

Such an incredibly powerful soul.

He was different from everyone else, and I do not know why.

Perhaps he was simply much more evolved, or possessed far greater wisdom, but it was beautiful.

He knows everything about you—everything you have ever done.

And if you think that would be embarrassing, it is not, because none of it is shameful to him.

He knows exactly what it is like, and he does not judge.

It was almost as if he congratulated you for coming from a place where life is hard, where so many people go through such difficult things.

And he understands all of that.

It was simply wonderful, and I wish I could have spent more time with him.

He spoke one sentence to me.

He asked if I would tell people that death does not exist.

It was as though I only had a short moment with him.

He was the last person I saw.

People have asked me whether I received any gifts before I returned.

I did not come back with any special abilities. I did not return as a psychic or with any extra gifts.

I was given nothing like that.

But what I did bring back was a one hundred percent clear memory of every place he took me to.

I think my favorite place—the place he took me to that I loved the most—was the Planetarium.

He brought me to this enormous stadium. First, he showed me the outside, and then he led me inside.

It was absolutely immense.

The building was oval-shaped, with thousands and thousands of seats. I was sitting there with my guide.

There was someone seated behind us who said, “Now look in front of you. It’s about to begin.”

The lights went out, and I looked upward.

The man continued, “When you look at the stars, this is what you see.”

By that, he meant: this is how everyone on Earth sees them.

Then images began to appear—our planets: Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Mars. The entire solar system unfolded before us.

And then it disappeared.

The man behind me said, “But when we look at the stars—from this side of the veil—this is what we see.”

Suddenly, planet after planet after planet appeared.

Hundreds of thousands of planets.

Millions of planets.

And he said, “There is more life in the universe than you could ever imagine.”

Astronomy has always been something I have loved to study, although I could never quite master the mathematics.

I love the stars and the planets, and I could have stayed there forever, studying them.

It is such an extraordinary place to learn and to see things in an entirely different way.

I wish I could somehow convey to you what it feels like to be in that Planetarium.

There is not a single day that passes that I do not think about it.

Life on Earth is like living in a war zone, as though you are sitting in a trench without a radio.

We do not experience our connection with God here in the same way we do on the other side, and I do not know why.

I think this is one of the things people miss most deeply in their hearts.

They miss that love of God.

And it is simply hard—very hard—to be here on this planet.
